Career Guidance Exploration

Lesson Summary

Students will explore careers based on a series of inventories taken through career guidance website. Students will also compose a resume and perform an interview in class with an interview panel

Objective(s)  1. Explore various career occupations using career guidance system website, 2. Choose careers based on inventories taken online, 3. Construct a Resume, 4. Learn, prepare, and perform an interview

NETS: 

 

 

CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION: use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues., CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION: identify trends and forecast possibilities.

 

COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION: use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

 

RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY: locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media., RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY:evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks., RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY:process data and report results.

 

CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project., CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions.

TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS: apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes., TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS: identify trends and forecast possibilities.

 

Technology Tools Internet Research, Online Surveys,

 

Procedures - 1. Students will access community.coin3.com log in and enter personal information. They will then take three inventories; skills, careers, and self assessments in the exploration center (yellow tab), 2. After seeing results, students will then identify 3 occupations most interested in and research further into a worksheet., 3. Create a resume with the resume builder in the planning center (green tab), 4. Prepare and perform an interview. 20 commonly asked questions. Students are to research FAQ's and communicate with others as to how FAQ's can be answered

Assessment 3 occupation worksheet will be completed. Resume will accompany the nterview. Students are to prepare and dress appropriately for an interview with an interview panel and follow the interview rubric
