Outside reading power point
Lesson Summary
Student will create a power point presentation. They have been reading a novel of their choice for outside reading. In the power point, they are to create: 5 minimum five slides, an image for every slide, write about the protagonist, the plot, conflicts, and theme.
Objective(s) 1. Use the selected media skillfully, editing appropriately and monitoring for quality. , 2. Support important ideas and viewpoints through accurate and detailed references to the text or to other works. , 3. Compare and contrast the presentation of a similar theme or topic across genres to explain how the selection of genre shapes the theme or topic.

Procedures - 1. Student is to create a slide show presentation using microsoft powerpoint software,or pages soft ware. They are to design how their slide looks and information they wish to include., 2. They are to support their ideas (theme, character traits, plot, conflicts) based on textual evidence, 3. They are to identify one theme and include why they believe this is an important theme in the novel. They can connect the main theme to personal life experiences, other novels we have read, movies they have seen, etc. , 4. They are to create a book report using power point, pages or other slide show software
Assessment Students are assessed on the following: -number of slides, an image per slide, identified one main theme and support it with textual evidence, identify the plot, character conflict and support it with textual evidence
