PowerPoint Project - Architectural Works
In this lesson students use a PowerPoint template to create a presentation on 3 separate works of architecture using a this website (http://www.greatbuildings.com).
Objective(s) 1. Compare and contrast works of art from various periods, styles, and cultures and explain how those works reflect the society in which they were made., 2. Locate, evaluate, and summarize information into an organized and simplified format., 3. Understand the purpose of using a multimedia presentation to present information to an audience., 4. Be able to use a template to develop a presentation of their own content.

Procedures - 1. Students download the PowerPoint template to their computers and save it to their user account. With the teacher walking students through the steps, they learn to edit the slides to add a title, bullet text, and inserting photos., 2. Students use
http://www.greatbuildings.com to research and gather information about a work of architecture. They read and then summarize this information into the provided PowerPoint template. Students are taught how to use the web browswer (i.e. Safari, Internet Explorer) to download two different photos of the work of architecture they are reporting on., 3. After learning how to edit the text in the slides, students learn then learn how to insert a photo into a slide. They must do this for two slides per work of architecture., 4. After completed students learn how to format the presentation for printing out a handout with three slides per page and note lines.
Assessment Students are assessed based upon the quailty of the information they put in their presentation slides. Did they simply copy what was on the website or did they assimilate it and summarize it in their own words. Did they format the slides correctly. Were they able to customize the design and maintain the formatting of their slides.
