Lesson Summary

 

Students will reinforce the contend summary of the Calfornia Missions by creating a simple power point presentation and giving a short 5 minute presentation.

 

Objective(s)  1. 4.2 Students describe the social, political, cultural, and economic life and interactions among people of California from the pre-Columbian societies to the Spanish mission and Mexican rancho periods. , 2. Students will learn how to communicate their ideas and research contents using "paperless" digital presentation format., 3. Reinforce oral presentation skills, synchronizing with the use of a visual presentation media., 4. Learn to conduct research using the internet, word processor and Power Point.

 

NETS: 

 

 

CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION: demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

 

COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION: use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS: apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.

 

Technology Tools Presentation Software, Photography (Digital), Internet Research, Word Processing

 

Procedures - 1. Perform the research, using books, internet and other sources., 2. Gather picture files using search sites such as google.com "images", 3. Write up the research paper, using a word processor such as MS Word., 4. Make a simple 5 to 10 slide presentation, using Power Point.

 

Assessment Student will be given a Rubric on the presentation Guidelines. Teacher will evaluate, using the Rubric "Check List" on things to include in the presentation.
