Natural Disasters

Lesson Summary


 

Each group will research a natural disaster that's assigned. As a group, they will be responsible for creating a PowerPoint presentation, a written report and brochure using Microsoft Word.


 

Objective(s)  1. 3.a. Students know the features of the ocean floor provide evidence of plate tectonics. , 2. 3.d. Students know why and how earthquakes occur and the scales used to measure their intensity and magnitude., 3. 3.e. Students know there are two kinds of volcanoes: one kind with violent eruptions producing steep slopes and teh other kind with voluminous lava flows producing gentle slopes. , 4. Technology Operations and Concepts: B. Understand and use technology systems.


 

NETS: 

COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION: use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

RESEARCH AND INFORMATION FLUENCY: apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

Technology Tools Internet Research, Wikipedia, Presentation Software, Word Processing


 

Procedures - 1. Students are to research their assigned disaster using the internet., 2. Students will write a report using their research in a word document., 3. Students will create a brochure with safety tips about their disaster. , 4.
 
Assessment Their presentation will be their assessment.
