Lesson Summary


 

Students will understand the many themes incorporated in the book Holes written by Louis Sachar by creating a web quest that integrates many different historical events and people that have changed society as a whole.


 

Objective(s)  1. Connecting history to project , 2. Understanding cause and effect, 3. Recognize how one peson's actions can have an impact on many , 4. Recognize the destructiveness of racism and prejudice


 

NETS:

Procedures - 1. Complete Hole #1- 1-4 Paragraph contains 6 to 8 sentences and answers all four questions on Leonardo Da Vinci completely. 5. Game results, 2. Complete Hole #2- 1-2 Graphic organizers-two showing the effects of cruel acts and two showing the effects of kind acts., 3. Complete Hole #3- 1. Describe two events and their significance. 2. Rosa Parks- who is she and why is she important? 3. Who is Harriet Tubman? How did she help? 4. Person of choice and how he/she helped. 5. What was Manzanar? Where is it? Who stayed there and why? What is Kristi Yamaguchi's connection to Manzanar?, 4. Complete Hole #4- 1 Paragraph contains 6 to 8 sentences that discuss if things have gotten better for African Americans since the 1960's and what people can do today to make Dr. King' dream come true? 2. Summary- What made Ghandi a great man? 3. What does "satyagraha" mean? Complete Hole #5- 1. Do you think these men made a difference in our lives? How? Explain. 2. Gandhi andKing Venn Diagram. 3.Five paragrapgh essay comparing and contrasting the lives of King and Gandhi and how their actions made a positive contribution to society.
