Given conservation issues, you will participate in the development of a dramatization whose goal is to spread a message. You will cooperate with three others to produce an original audio or audiovisual media spot. As a group, you will research an issue, develop a script, experiment with sound quality, lighting, stage elements, costumes, and space; and collaborate in the development of dialogue, timing, sequencing, and movement.
Objective(s) 1. Students know how to analyze changes in an ecosystem resulting from changes in climate, human activity, introduction of nonnative species, or changes in population size., 2. Students know how water, carbon, and nitrogen cycle between abiotic resources and organic matter in the ecosystem and how oxygen cycles through photosynthesis and respiration. , 3. Students know a vital part of an ecosystem is the stability of its producers and decomposers., 4. Investigate a science-based societal issue by researching the literature, analyzing data, and communicating the findings. Examples of issues include irradiation of food, cloning of animals by somatic cell nuclear transfer, choice of energy sources, and land and water use decisions in California.

Procedures - 1. You will write scripts for a public service media message. Be as creative as possible. Include all stages of the writing process: prewriting (have at least 5 different ideas), writing (create scripts for 3), responding, revising, and editing. You must site 3 sources for the information that your PSA is based on. One of the sources must be published (written) and all 3 must be reliable., 2. Vote on which scripts you want to record as a group. Choose students who will provide the voices, students who will find and record music, students to operate audio and/or video equipment, students to provide lighting, costumes, props, etc., 3. You will play the radio spots or video spots in class. ,
